Public methodology

How GolfNode builds trustworthy public representations.

GolfNode organises attributable public information about represented golf clubs. The methodology is designed to preserve evidence, expose uncertainty, protect authority boundaries, and prevent unsupported information from becoming public truth.

How GolfNode builds coverage

From source register to governed admission.

GolfNode builds national golf coverage in a sequence that keeps sources, identity, relationships and review visible at every stage.

  1. 1

    Source register

Record attributable institutional, official and governed reference sources.

  2. 2

    Identity normalisation

Reconcile names, identifiers and jurisdiction scope without silently merging rows.

  3. 3

    Relationship graph

Keep facilities, courses, operators, events and parent-child links explicit.

  4. 4

    Denominator

Measure the population and scope before describing a national directory.

  5. 5

    Enrichment

Add field-level evidence while preserving missing, stale and conflicting states.

  6. 6

    Governed admission

Publish only what has cleared the relevant public, rights and authority boundary.

A global reference list is not national completeness. A source, venue, tour or research node is not silently promoted into a national public count.

Public scale

Global golf, built country by country.

South Africa is GolfNode's lead national directory. The wider network grows through bounded research, active compilers and governed source registers rather than one undifferentiated global list.

Lead national directory

432 clubs represented in GolfNode's current public South African directory.

Ireland

PUBLIC DIRECTORY

378

377 golf institutions · 1 related-property profile

378 governed entities in the governed Ireland estate: 377 golf institutions listed in the public directory plus 1 related-property profile. Not an official national denominator or a claim that 378 clubs are represented across Ireland.

COMPILER ACTIVE

51

10 jurisdictions deep-processed · 270 normalized identities · 77 facilities · 194 courses · 24 operators

51 core jurisdictions registered in the compiler; the national facility and course denominator remains unmeasured.

GOVERNED SOURCE REGISTER

88

A country-by-country governed research network

88 governed country research nodes; not 88 complete countries and not global club coverage.

These states are deliberately different. A global reference list is not national completeness.

Governing principles

Evidence, authority, and publication remain separate.

GolfNode does not treat a visible source, a submitted Claim, an email verification, or a payment as sufficient authority to alter a club's official or public representation.

Evidence before assertion

Public information must be supported by an attributable source, a governed deterministic rule, or an approved public record. Unsupported details remain unknown rather than being inferred.

Representation is not endorsement

A GolfNode club profile is a public representation assembled from available evidence. Its existence does not imply ownership, endorsement, partnership, or authorised management by the represented club.

Verification has boundaries

Source verification, email verification, institutional authority, club affiliation, Club Activation, OS access, and publication authority are separate states. One does not automatically create another.

Uncertainty remains visible

Missing, stale, contradictory, or insufficient evidence is not converted into certainty. GolfNode may withhold a field, qualify its wording, or retain it for further review.

Corrections require evidence

Correction requests identify the exact club, field, public profile, and supporting evidence. A request does not alter the official or public information automatically.

Publication remains governed

Media provenance, usage rights, human approval, public-field eligibility, and publication authority are evaluated separately before information or media can become publishable.

Representation lifecycle

From public evidence to a governed club profile.

  1. 1

    Discover

Locate candidate public information from attributable institutional, official, registry, or otherwise governed sources.

  2. 2

    Observe

Record what the source actually states together with provenance, dates, identifiers, and relevant limitations.

  3. 3

    Reconcile

Compare evidence, identify contradictions, preserve lineage, and avoid silently selecting convenient values.

  4. 4

    Qualify

Apply the relevant public representation, evidence, privacy, media, and verification contracts.

  5. 5

    Represent

Publish only the sanitised information permitted by the public boundary, using language proportionate to the evidence.

  6. 6

    Maintain

Retain correction pathways, review dates, governed updates, and the ability to withdraw or supersede information.

In practice

Useful information, with its limits visible.

A booking page does not prove live availability. An address does not necessarily identify the golfer arrival point. A photograph visible online does not automatically give GolfNode reuse rights. Different published prices do not automatically form a valid range, and a past event date does not prove it was completed. Unknown information is not treated as false.

Important boundary

A represented club is not automatically a verified participant.

A club may already have a public GolfNode profile before any representative has claimed it. Claim submission, email verification, human authority review, exact-club affiliation, Club Activation, OS access, and publication authority remain separate governed events.

Corrections and challenges

Public representations can be questioned and improved.

A correction request should identify the club, the relevant public profile, the field concerned, and supporting evidence where available. Requests are reviewed; they do not create an automatic public or canonical change.

GolfNode uses a governed method to keep sources, uncertainty and authority visible. It supports public representation; it does not turn incomplete evidence into certainty or grant institutional authority by implication.
